For the last several years the blogs have been totally obsessed with all things rustic wedding. From mason jars to hay bale seating, if you could get it at the farm store and put it in a barn it made the press. Like all trends, once the uniqueness wore off and the reality sunk in it has started to fade.
Today you are starting to see more and more activity on Pinterest and the big wedding blogs showcasing the classic elegant ballroom wedding.
There are a couple of reasons for the resurgence of this traditional option for weddings.
1. It is easier. Everything you need is already in place. With so many of the rustic, out of the way venues that have popped up in response to the trend you end up having to rent everything from plates and glasses to tables and chairs. At some you even have to go so far as to rent a very nice (read pricy) porta potty trailer. With a ballroom wedding reception they already have everything in place. Oh, If you have a specific look in mind you may rent some specialty linen but other than that you need centerpieces. There are some catering halls that even have these for you to use.
2. Your guests know what to expect. How many times have you arrived beautifully dressed at a wedding only to spend the night with your Manolo’s sinking into the grass? Yuck. Then there is the sunburn you get while sipping your strawberry lemonade out of a mason jar and waiting for the ceremony to start. With a classic ballroom wedding your guest’s comfort is a part of the deal. Valet parking, coat check and beautifully appointed restrooms are all part of the package.
3. The food is better. There are a lot of things that can be done with off-site catering, but there are some things that simply don’t work as well if the kitchen isn’t right there. Catering for large groups is an art. When you are doing it 40 miles away from your kitchen the food is going to suffer. If food is your thing, do you really want it held for 3 hours before service then plated in what used to be a horse stall? Me neither.
4. It can actually be less expensive. See above about the rentals. What may feel like sticker shock when you compare the price for a catering hall to a rustic venue is really comparing apples to oranges. Once you add in renting everything to get it set up and usable and the off-site fees for the caterer and any rentals they need you may well come out better with an all inclusive catering hall like Leonard’s Palazzo.
Just like any trend, things all begin to look the same after a while. What made them unique and edgy in the beginning gets tired and old. Frankly, if I am never served a drink in a mason jar again I won’t be a bit heartbroken. Give me a pretty stemmed glass to sip out of while I bask in the softly lit air conditioning with my stilettos perched nicely on the carpet!
What you need to do is call Leonard’s Palazzo today and come for a tour. Once you have checked out our elegantly appointed facilities, strolled through our beautiful ballrooms and discovered everything we have to offer, the choice is clear. Trends fade for a reason. The classics live on for a reason. In this case, ease, elegance and comfort are the reason.
